No baby yet . . . but life goes on.
It is spring now . . . the neighbors cows have calved. (Our first sign) The pussy willows are sporting there fuzzy gray blooms (The second sign) and the sap is occasionally flowing a bit.(The third sign) Japheth’s dad cooked down the first batch yesterday. He got two and one half gallons. And the fourth sign is that I’m now hanging out wash . . . .Ah, that fresh smell is delightful to the max! The fifth sign? . . . is a fun one (not) the children come in from playing (in the afternoon, anyway) wet and muddy. The snow is slowly, (occasionally) melting away. We still have a ways to go. But one of my favorite signs is still several weeks away. It’s when the ice gives way and lets the blue water shine though on the lake! That takes the cake!
An explanation of my “labor” Sunday . . . to be honest I don’t feel like talking about it. With each pregnancy the Braxton hicks get more frequent and I guess so does false labor. Anyway some labor began and we tried to help it along . . . not a good thing if it doesn’t keep going!
And yes . . . I’m waiting again. The only thing is I’m a bit scared that the date we thought might be right isn’t and it really won’t be till the beginning of April sometime.
Anyway I am back to everyday life again which today includes another sign of spring. Spring cleaning fever has hit. So thus I am slowly ticking away at cluttered cupboards and areas that collect stuff, Uhm, like this “office” room. It’s terrible! I’m glad you can’t see it . . . or can you, Cretora? (
“But let patience have her perfect work . . .” James 1:4
Sunday evening an acquaintance or ours (who had the same due date) ended up with a cesarean. It was with a thankful heart that I went to bed with Sunday evening. I am content to wait. ”I have learned in whatsoever state I am therewith to be content . . .”

Few things are as frustrating, even humiliating, as false labor. I remember so well the excitement, calling the midwife, sending the children to grandma's...and then hours of walking until I finally was the last to admit that this was not "it" after all. And I called my SIL and wept on the phone, and she came bustling over with castor oil, which I didn't need since all of a sudden labor kicked in for real, but I am still so grateful to her for being there for me and not making me feel helpless and stupid.
Grace and peace to you, a moment at a time. You WILL have this baby.
I know it is embarressing to have false labor but I know from personal experience it doesn't work too well if you don't recognize it as that/or a sign to rest up a bit and try to keep going...I ended up with a premature baby and a uterus that wouldn't contract and needed to be transported. Not fun!!! In fact I wasn't even sure for a bit if I would make it. Thanks for sharing...I love reading your blogs. I will keep praying for you. Lorene
Remember to "smile at the future" (Proverbs 31:25)! Remember that God has you waiting and that everyone will be tended to and everything will get done that needs to get done. Just keep resting and enjoying this day! Much love :)
It is embarrassing and disappointing to have a go at false labor. I had a good ten hours one night, and we were "helping" it along as well. I had to go to church the next Sunday, as big as ever. Then he was born that evening, after a relatively easy and FAST labor. Praying you'll find the grace you need! You start imagining that you might be the first lady who is permanently pregnant, and never go into labor on your own, but it will happen!! May God surround you with His love and peace!
Hang in there! Praying for you!
Hang in there. Sometimes we don't understand God's ways. I know last night i was quite irritated with a woman John delivered. It was her first baby. She was three cm dilated in the morning, and said she hadn't been having any contractions. She came in that evening to the hospital. They checked her and she was 4, but still wasn't having painful contractions. Well, about an hour after she got to the hospital John decided to take a shower since he thought it would take a while. What do you know the nurse called and said this lady was complete. She pushed the baby out ten minutes after John got there. I'm thinking, how can that even be right. No one should have it that easy--I'm sure I won't.
Then this morning I realized I am not God and do not know this woman's personal situation. Maybe God chose to give her an easy delivery because she had other complications in her life. Anyway, while waiting for John to come home last night, I prayed that your delivery would be easier than you are anticipating also. It will come, one of these days. (You can remind me of that when I'm 36 weeks and it's sweltering outside!)
hey girl...i can only imagine how the days must drag on when you were ready to deliver yesterday. just know you're in my thoughts and prayers! :-)
